Nguyễn Thị Thuỳ Linh

Linh became Albrecht Fund’s first scholarship recipient. After losing her mother to cancer and her father soon after beginning university, she carried grief alongside concern for her younger brother and the future of her family.

Continuing her education required resilience, but also practical space to keep going. Early support helped create that space at a critical transition.

Linh was accepted to study Vietnamese Studies at the University of Education and moved to Hà Nội. There, she began tutoring, supporting herself, and developing the confidence that comes from navigating a new city independently.

She also set new goals for her English and professional development—evidence that stability can free a young person to look beyond the next immediate obstacle.

The scholarship lasted seventeen months. Its larger effect was not ongoing dependence, but the momentum to become financially and personally independent at an early stage of adult life.

Linh’s journey helped shape the Fund’s wider philosophy: meaningful support should build the capability to choose, adapt, and eventually stand on one’s own.
