With the care of his grandfather, teachers, and community, Sơn’s long educational horizon is being protected one school year at a time.

01

A circle of care

Growing through loss without growing alone

After losing both parents, Sơn was raised by his maternal grandfather in Phú Lương, Thái Nguyên. Teachers and neighbours became part of the wider circle helping him feel secure and connected.

One early memory—travelling by airplane with family to say goodbye to his mother—reveals how much change entered his life at a young age. The adults around him worked to ensure loss would not define every part of what followed.

02

The classroom

Small routines, lasting foundations

At Tức Tranh 2 Primary School, ordinary learning moments matter: holding a piece of chalk, practising a lesson, receiving encouragement, returning the next day.

These routines build more than knowledge. They create belonging and give a child evidence that there is a place for him in the future.

03

A long promise

Support that grows with the student

The planned support period for Sơn extends to 2030. That horizon recognises that a child’s educational journey needs patience, continuity, and room to change.

His ambitions will become clearer with time. For now, the essential work is to protect his curiosity and keep possibility open.

What this journey reminds us

For a young child, long-term support is a promise that the future is worth preparing for.
