Phan Văn Khải

Khải grew up in Bạch Thông, Bắc Kạn. After his father died, he carried growing responsibility for a household that included his mother, who faced mental-health challenges, and a younger brother with hearing and speech disabilities.

High school was roughly twenty kilometres from home, requiring him to live away during the school week. Each journey to class represented both determination and time away from the people who relied on him.

For sixteen months, Albrecht Fund helped Khải continue at Bạch Thông High School. Eventually, family responsibilities led him to leave the scholarship and enter work.

It was not the outcome anyone had first imagined, but it was a decision made with care and clear-eyed responsibility.

Khải’s story makes room for an important truth: educational journeys do not all end with the same credential, and a change in route is not a failure of character.

The discipline, confidence, and relationships built through school remain part of how he meets the world and supports those closest to him.
